Reno-Sparks
Chamber of Commerce
Becomes a Founding Sponsor of Cinco
de Mayo Reno
(January
25, 2003 - Reno, Nev.) –
Nevada Hispanic Services (NHS) and DM Productions LLC welcome the
Reno- Sparks Chamber of Commerce as a Founding Sponsor of Cinco de
Mayo Reno. Last year, more than 100,000 people attended the premier
downtown family cultural event that once is co-sponsored by the City
of Reno and benefits Nevada Hispanic Services. It was called by FOX
Television the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebration on the West
Coast. With more than $450,000 from media sponsors, corporate
sponsorships make the most of a company’s marketing dollars. Call
775-825-1727 for details. Sponsorships start at just $500.
The Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Farmer’s
Market within Cinco de Mayo Reno. The market will be open on
Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4 with lots of fresh vegetables and
fruit for locals to enjoy.
“This is a legacy event for our community,” said Harry York,
president of the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce. “We are pleased
to participate in a true multi-cultural event in downtown Reno. The
business community is very interested in partnering with our
Hispanic community for more opportunities.”
The Chamber is also celebrating its 100 year birthday in 2003. And
that also makes this event special for chamber members.
“We will be holding our May mixer at 10 North Virginia on Friday,
May 2 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the heart of our Cinco de Mayo
Reno celebration,” added York. “It will give our members a chance
to network with other members while enjoying the celebration of
culture.”
As
a founding sponsor, a special benefit for the Reno-Sparks Chamber of
Commerce members, is a 10 percent discount to all those wanting to
secure a booth for the event. For information on purchasing a booth,
Chamber members should call 775-770-5006 and mention their Chamber
membership.
“We want to welcome Chamber members as vendors to Cinco de Mayo
Reno.
Last year more than 160 vendors set up booths successfully selling
everything from crafts to specialty food and drink. This year we’ve
added a day allowing vendors additional time to sell.,” Doug
Collins, event producer stated. “Great locations are still
available. We also offer discounts for non-profit organizations,”
Collins added.
Cinco de Mayo Reno has found an additional way of joining the fun by
volunteering as a “Cinco Amigo”. For $35 and your time, volunteers
are rewarded with a ticket to one of Cinco de Mayo Reno’s premier
events and a souvenir T-shirt. Those interested should call the
Cinco de Mayo Reno line, 775-770-5006.
“Our founding sponsors are also eager to participate and make 2003
an even bigger event,” Collins said. “It really is gratifying to see
the overwhelming response from the business
community including the Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce. Cinco de
Mayo Reno 2003 is a great downtown Reno event with the potential to
grow into another Hot August Nights.”
