Cinco de Mayo Reno is the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebration on the West Coast ! Over 100,000 people are expected to attend this festival of fun, food & festivities. In Downtown Reno and in other locations in Reno, stages will feature great live music, dance & entertainment. Vendors will feature the culture of Mexico and other Latin countries. Events include a 5K Fun Run, Headliner Concerts, Farmer's Market, Dancing Horse Pavilion and much more. Proceeds benefit Nevada Hispanic Services. In 2004, we will have a great new location in midtown at Shoppers Square, one the very busiest intersections in Reno at S. Virginia and Plumb Lane.

Volunteer for Cinco de Mayo Reno

We need your help for Cinco de Mayo Reno. Become a Cinco Amigo - a friend of Nevada Hispanic Services and then qualify for some great benefits and prizes.

Duties for volunteers range from crowd control, guarding barricades, directing walking traffic, working on the CincoK run/walk, or assisting with the Cinco de Mayo Reno Parade (Des Frute el Desfile de Cinco) along Wells Avenue on Saturday morning.

Some of the benefits could include tickets or backstage passes to great concerts like the Malo Concert and Dance at the Golden Phoenix Hotel & Casino on May 7 & May 8, 2002.

With just a minimum of a four hour commitment as a volunteer, your name will be entered into a special grand prize drawing for a cruise for 2 people to the Mexican Riviera.

You have up to one year to use the cruise and there are some things you have to provide like your port & destination taxes + your travel to/from Los Angeles but ...

WOW! 7 nights aboard a luxury cruise ship (Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian) with stops including Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan & Cabo San Lucas!

Win A Mexico Cruise! – Those volunteers who give at least 4 hours are entered into a raffle drawing for a Seven-Day Mexican Rivera Cruise for TWO leaving from Los Angles. Cruise does not include airfare and winner is responsible for port taxes (approximately $150 per person ***).

Cruise includes all food and non-alcoholic beverages on cruise, so this is really a cool reward for one of our worthy volunteers.

For each 4-hour shift, volunteer is entered one time – therefore if you volunteer for eight hours you get TWO chances, volunteer 12 hours and get THREE chances and so on.

Dates are May 8 and 9. Hours begin at 8 a.m. and last until 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old or partnered with someone at least 18 years old. (Volunteers can be younger than 18. They will be partnered for their shift with someone at least 18 years old.)

ALL Shifts are a minimum of 2 hours in duration unless volunteers are notified beforehand.

Each volunteer is responsible for own parking and should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the beginning of his or her assign shift.

ALL Volunteers get a T-shirt for their work. Those that work at least one 4-hour shift also get a meal.

Nevada Hispanic Services provides valuable services

to the Hispanic community of Northern Nevada

including educational services, legal resources,

health services, youth programs, childcare services

and immigration assistance.
