The cost is $5 plus $3.75 S&H and proceeds benefit local charities including the Girl Scouts, Sacramento Food Bank, and Special Olympics of Northern California

National Rib Competition

Held September 26 - 28, 2003

Best Ribs: $2,500

Outlaw BBQ, Clackamas, OR

2nd Place Ribs: $1,500

Maui Wowie, Reno, NV

3rd Place Ribs: $1,000

Kinder's Custom Meats, Concord, CA

Best Sauce:

Redneck BBQ, Pleasant Hill, CA

The three-day event  entertained over 20,000 (16,000 paid attendance) visitors with great food, musicians on two stages - home plate and right field, craft vendors, a classic car display, and a kids activity area.  Competition was fierce as professional “ribbers” competed for more than $5,000 in prize money.

Ribbers (total of 10 ribber teams) competed for the big prize money include:

 Outlaw Barbecue (Portland, OR), Kinder's Custom Meat (Concord, CA), Backyard BBQ (Seattle, WA), Maui Wowie BBQ (Reno, NV),  My Brother's Barbeque (Portland, OR),  Rajun Cajun BBQ (Portland, OR), Redneck BBQ (Pleasant Hill, CA), Joshua's Ribbs (Sacramento, CA), Smokin' Joe's BBQ (Folsom, CA), and West Sacramento's own Elks Club BBQ Team.
